"At the Empty Tomb": Mary Magdalene - artist dashinvaine

  1. Much as I admire anyone who can depict a human face, I'm not getting any emotional freight here. She looks neither distraught nor amazed, and might be anyone, anywhere.

A picture with this title should tell us not only how MM feels but why, in the artist's thinking, she was chosen to be the first at the empty tomb - there should be a history etched in the face. Calling Rembrandt?

  2. I see a woman in contemplation, a moment of pain, sorrow, perhaps that moment before she realizes the tomb is empty?

  3. Or perhaps Mary Magdalene returned to the empty tomb a day or two after the Resurrection, to pray and reflect, ponder and give thanks?
